Chime's Spending Account is a fee-free, mobile-only banking account allowing you to manage your money from anywhere. Featuring many perks, the Chime Spending can be seen as a regular checking account, with Chime being a neobank, offering its products and services in partnership with the Bancorp Bank and Stride Bank, N.A.
As Chime is looking to provide an easy banking solution to U.S. residents, enabling them to perform their financial tasks quickly and conveniently, it's no wonder why there are millions of people who've opened the account since its launch.
Particularly attractive are the facts that the Chime Spending account is packed with benefits, and has no hidden fees: no sign-up fees, no overdraft, no monthly or service fees, no minimum balance fees, no transaction fees, and no card replacement fees! Out-of-network ATM fees do apply, but given Chime's great ATM network, with over 38,000 ATMs, you'll probably never have to pay those, either.
There are several optional services you can include in your account package, such as a savings account, so you can plan for some future expenses, such as a trip or a bigger purchase. There's also the possibility to benefit from waived overdraft fees, which makes this bank account solution great for those who might not always be responsible with their money or simply don't check their balances regularly.
Of course, digital banking tools are excellent - after all, Chime is an online-only bank. With fast mobile payments, early direct deposits, instant push notifications, account alerts, and anyplace-anytime account access, The Chime Spending is just perfect for busy people looking for flexible and timesaving daily banking solution.
With Chime's online Customer Service, you'll be able to reach out to a professional, in case you ever need any assistance, but can't find help using the resources available on their website or in the app.
Security-wise, the product is good enough: it's been built by a team of tech experts, so you can rest assured, knowing your personal and financial information is safe - unless a major data-theft catastrophe occurs or you are the one to disclose it.
All of this said, if you prefer doing business with a traditional, brick-and-mortar bank, and would like to have a physical branch to stop by every now and then, all of this online banking still being somewhat abstract to you, then you might want to keep shopping.

Chime Spending Checking Account FAQ
It takes only 3 simple steps to open a Chime Spending Account!
1. You will need to provide:
- Your first and last name,
- Social security number (SSN),
- Email and a password.
You'll also need to have a utility bill, lease or billing statement as proof of address to open a bank account.
Only U.S. citizens aged 18+ can open a Chime Spending Account.
3. Set up direct deposits by sharing your Chime routing number and Chime Spending Account number to your employer or benefit provider. These numbers are available under Settings, as well as the Move Money section.
You can start using Chime once you've got some money deposited to your account - no minimum opening deposit required!
Yes, your money is FDIC-insured, up to $250,000 through The Bancorp Bank or Stride Bank N.A, Chime's partners.
Chime SpotMe is a free, optional service allowing you to make debit card purchases even if you don't have enough money in your balance to cover a transaction, and without requiring you to link a savings account to your Spending Account. This means you'll be able to overdraft your account without incurring an overdraft fee.
Starting from $20, the overdraft limit can go up to $100, depending on your Chime Spending Account history, direct deposit history and amount, spending activity, and a few other things. Do note that, while many factors are taken into consideration when it comes to setting your overdraft limit, SpotMe only covers debit card purchases, and doesn't work for ATM withdrawals, peer-to-peer or ACH transfers or Chime Checkbook transactions.
You'll be able to view your overdraft limit in the app, and will be notified in case of any changes, since you cannot set your limit yourself.
If you're eligible for Chime SpotMe, i.e., if you receive $500 in direct deposits each month, you'll be able to enroll in SpotMe through the app - the option is available under the Settings tab.
According to Chime, when you set up a direct deposit, you'll become automatically eligible to get paid up to 2 days earlier.
You can set up direct deposit straight in the app. All you need to do is provide your bank routing number and your Chime Spending account number to your employer or benefits provider. This information is available in the app, under "Move Money".
The Chime Savings Account is an optional savings account allowing you to save money for your future financial plans, while earning 1% APY on your savings account balance.
You can add the Chime Savings account to your Chime Spending either at the time of account opening or later.
While you cannot deposit funds directly to your Chime Savings, you can transfer money from your Spending account or set up "Save When I Get Paid", so 10% of each direct deposit of $500+ is transferred automatically to your Chime Savings.
Note that you won't be able to access money from your Chime Savings Account unless you transfer it to your Chime Spending Account. As per the general rule, you can only complete 6 transfers each month.
Automatic Savings is a feature allowing you to save money faster. When you turn on Automatic Savings, each time you use your Chime Visa Debit Card to make a purchase, Chime will round up the amount to the nearest dollar, and transfer the round up to your Savings Account.
No, with Chime, you won't be able to make any ATM deposits to your Chime Spending Account.
However, you can deposit money to your Chime Spending at over 60,000 retail locations with GreenDot. Just ask the cashier to add cash directly to your Chime Spending Account at the register.
There's a 24-hour maximum limit of $1,000. You can't deposit more than $10,000 per month.
Chime rewards its customers through a cashback program, allowing them to earn fee-free cashback in over 38,000 cash-back locations at major merchants across the United States, including Walmart, CVS, Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, and major grocery chains like Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Safeway.
If you're using the Chime Mobile app version 3.4 or later, you'll be able to find eligible locations through the ATM finder. However, you'll need to request cashback at the time of purchase at the register, and check whether there really aren't any fees, as merchants might change their cashback policies.
The maximum amount you can earn back varies, but can go up to $100, and there's usually a minimum purchase amount required to earn cash back - which, again, you also need to check directly with the merchant.
Not quite a seamless experience, but worthwhile whatsoever!
Yes, Chime does offer checks! Even better, Chime even mails checks for you!
With Chime Checkbook, you'll be able to mail checks anywhere within the 50 United States with just a couple of clicks!
To do that, go to the "Move Money" section of your Chime Mobile App, and select "Checkbook" from the "Pay Bills" dropdown list. Then, simply enter the required information, and you're ready to go (or, better said, your check's ready to go).
It usually takes 3 to 9 days for checks to arrive, and you can send as many checks as you'd like,
While there are no limits to the number of checks you can mail, there's a $5,000 limit to the amount of money you can send per check.
If you need help from Chime's Customer Support team, you can reach them through the Chime Mobile App - there's a special "customer support" tab in there.
You can also email them at email@example.com or give them a call at 844-244-6363 (available Monday through Saturday 7am-7pm; Sunday 9am-5pm).
