Chime’s Spending Account. Chime Spending Account charges no monthly account fees and doesn’t require a maintenance fees. Chime offers a program that accelerates your direct deposits, making them available up to two days early. Once you establish direct deposit into your Chime Spending Account, you’re eligible and can choose to receive your payment up to two days early, as soon as your employer deposits it. If you receive direct deposits of at least $500 each month, you can enroll in Chime’s SpotMe service. This optional service allows you to overdraw your account by up to $20 on debit card purchases without a fee. Chime can increase your SpotMe allowance up to $100 at its discretion based on your account history. You can check your SpotMe limit in the mobile app. Need to send a paper check? You can generate one from the Chime mobile app and Chime will send it in the mail for you.
Chime  Debit card works everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted.  And unlike some prepaid cards and traditional bank accounts, there are no monthly account fees and minimum balance requirements. Out-of-network cash withdrawal fees apply.

  • Open chime.com and enter your personal info and complete the enrollment.
  • Once enrollment is completed, Chime’ll send a Chime Visa® Debit Card in the mail to the address you provided. Your new debit card typically arrives in 7-10 business days.
  • Download Chime mobile banking app, and log in. You can connect your existing bank account to transfer funds or set up direct deposit to your Spending Account. You can also login to online banking at chime.com whenever you need it.

1. How do I open a Chime Spending Account?

Here’s how to apply online Chime Spending Account:

  • Click Apply now.
  • Click Get started.
  • Create an account by filling in your first name, last name and email address, then choose a password. Click Next.
  • Continue the application process by filling in information like your address and phone number. Click Next.
  • Provide your date of birth and Social Security number, then click Next.
  • Fill out your occupation, source of income and how you heard about Chime. Click Next.
  • Confirm your information is correct. Check that you read and agree to the terms of Chime’s Electronic Communication Agreement and Deposit Account Agreement. Finally, click Submit Application.

5. How do I make direct deposits to Chime Account?

The easiest way to deposit funds to your Spending Account is by direct deposit from your employer. To make direct deposits through your employer or payroll provider, provide them with your Chime routing number and Spending Account number. Chime takes care of the rest. Your funds will automatically post to your Chime Spending Account as soon as we receive them. To get started, you can find your bank routing number and Spending Account number in the Chime app sections, Move Money and Settings, or by logging in to your account online.

6. How do I make bank transfers to my Chime Spending Account?

Other banks allow transfers to Chime from their websites and apps.

To get started:

  • Log in to your old bank's website or app.
  • Look for the Transfer menu option.
  • In the transfer screen, you can add your Chime routing and account number, found in the Chime app on the Settings page.
7. How can I deposit cash to my Chime Spending Account?

You can deposit cash in your Chime Spending Account at over 90,000 retail locations (like Walmart, Walgreens, and 7-Eleven) with Chime cash deposit partners. To find a cash deposit partner near you, go to the app, tap Move Money, select Deposit cash, and tap See locations near me. At the retail location, ask the cashier to make a deposit to your Chime Spending Account. You can make up to 3 deposits every 24 hours. You can add up to $1,000.00 every 24 hours for a maximum of $10,000.00 every month. Third-party money transfer services that are used to add funds to your Chime Spending Account may impose their own fees or limits such as:Fees per transaction Daily, weekly, or monthly limits on the frequency or the amount of cash you may add to the Chime Spending Account

8. How do I enroll in Mobile Check Deposit?

Chime offers Mobile Check Deposit for members who are enrolled in direct deposit with their Chime Spending Accounts. Chime’ll determine if you are eligible for the Mobile Check Deposit feature based factors related to your Chime account history and account activity. If you have any questions, please contact us through the Chime app by clicking on the Support tab (you’ll find this in the top right corner of the app). Your access to Mobile Check Deposit is determined by Chime in its sole discretion based on the history of any Chime-branded accounts you have, direct deposit history, and direct deposit amounts and other risk-based factors.When you deposit cash to your Chime Spending Account, it is transferred by a third party to your account. Your funds will be FDIC insured once the bank holding your account receives the funds from the third party

9. What if my Chime debit card if lost, stolen, or misplaced?

If you need a new debit card, tap the “Replace My Card” button in the Card Settings of your Chime app! You will be asked whether your card was Lost, Stolen, or Damaged. After confirming your address a replacement card will arrive within two weeks. Keep an eye out for a green envelope with a Salt Lake City, Utah return address!

10. What are the benefits of Chime Spending account?
  1. Overdraft protection with SpotMe®. Overdraw on your account up to $100 and Chime will cover the difference for free and deduct it from your next deposit. But you must have at least $500 in monthly direct deposits to qualify.
  2. Instant notifications. You’ll get daily balance notifications and instant transaction alerts anytime you use your debit card.
  3. Transparency. Chime claims that it will never hide behind fine print or profit from members’ misfortune or mistakes, and its website displays a chart of all potential fees associated with the account.
  4. Optional Chime savings account. Sign up for this checking account and get access to Chime Savings  a linked account that gets 0.5% APY.
  5. Get paid early. Send your payroll direct deposit to your Chime Spending account to get access to your money as soon as your employer deposits it. According to Chime, that’s usually two days earlier than other banks post your money.

 “Early access to direct deposit funds depends on the timing of the submission of the payment file from the payer. We generally make these funds available on the day the payment file is received, which may be up to 2 days earlier than the scheduled payment date.”

11. How many ATMs accept the Chime debit card?

Chime has over 38,000 fee-free ATMs nationwide through our partners, MoneyPass and Visa Plus Alliance (VPA) networks. To find an ATM near you, use the Chime mobile app or go online to www.chime.com/atms to visit Chime ATM Finder.

12. What are the cash withdrawal limits?

ATMs You can withdraw up to $500 per day at any ATM.
However, there is a $2.50 fee every time you make a withdrawal from an ATM outside the MoneyPass and VPA networks. Additionally, the out-of-network ATM provider may charge you an additional fee at their discretion. 
Banks and Credit Unions You can request a cash withdrawal by going into a bank or credit union and presenting your Chime Visa Debit Card to the teller. This is referred to as an Over-The-Counter Withdrawal. There is a $2.50 fee every time you withdraw cash this way with a limit of up to $500.00 per day.
Any fees incurred including ATM and Over-The-Counter Withdrawals, funds withdrawn at a POS, and purchases are all subject to the $2,500 maximum amount that can be spent using the card per day.
ATM owner-operators, merchants, and participating banks may impose their own lower limits and fees on cash withdrawals.
 

13. Can I withdraw from my Savings Account at an ATM?

Money from your Savings Account cannot be accessed at an ATM and can only be used after it is first transferred to your Spending Account.

You can complete six (6) transfers from your Savings Account to your Spending Account each month:

  1. Use the Chime mobile app or visit www.chime.com.
  2. Go to the Move Money - Transfers section to make the transfer. 

When you deposit cash to your Chime Spending Account, it is transferred by a third party to your account. Your funds will be FDIC insured once the bank holding your account receives the funds from the third party.
