Citibank Basic Banking Account Package FAQ
There is no minimum monthly balance required with Citibank Basic Banking Account Package to either open or maintain the account. However, if you want to have the $12 monthly fee waived, you need to keep at least $1,500 in your linked deposit accounts.
Citibank will waive the $12 monthly fee on Basic Banking if you meet the bank's conditions, that is, if you have 1 qualifying direct deposit to a Regular Checking, Savings or Money Market account
in a Basic Banking Package, and 1 qualifying bill payment to a Regular Checking account in your Basic Banking Package during the statement period.
Qualifying direct deposits include ACH credits, such as payroll, pension or government payments (Social Security, for example), made by your employer or other organization.
Qualifying bill payments are any bill payments you make through CitiPhone Banking®, Citibank® Online, CitiBusiness® Online, and Citi Mobile®. Qualifying Bill Payments do not include payments made by check or internal transfer payments made to accounts of Citibank or its affiliates.
If you are 62 or older, you'll enjoy special perks with the Citibank Basic Banking Package.
For example, you'll have the monthly fee waived regardless of your balance. Citi will also waive all Citi fees for using non-Citi ATMs.
Your Citibank Basic Banking Package can consist of a Regular Checking account, savings or money market account. You can include only 1 Regular Checking account in this package.
If you open a Citibank Basic Banking package with a savings account or money market account only - without the Regular Checking, it is called "Basic Savings". The Basic Savings comes with a $4.50 monthly fee, which can be waived if you meet Citibank's requirements, that is, if you keep $500+ in your balance.
You can withdraw $1,000 per Citibank Banking Card, per business day from your Citibank Basic Banking Package.
As far as PIN and signature-based purchases are concerned, the limit is set to $5,000 per business day for each.
Using Citibank® Global Transfer services for account-to-account money transfers, the limits are as follow:
- Citibank Online: $1,000,
- Citi Mobile®: $5,000,
- Citibank ATM: $3,000,
- Weekly Limit: $10,000.
No, Citibank's Regular Checking doesn't earn you interest. You can, however, open a savings or money market account, and have it linked to your Basic Banking Package in order to earn interest.
